History Edit

America was found on July 4th, 1776, with the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the American Revolution (The Revolutionary War). From 1861 to 1865, the U.S. was a divided nation, at war with the Confederate States of America (South). The American Civil War was the bloodiest war in American History. America was neutral during the majority of World War I, until entering the war in 1917. During the peacetime years of the 1920's and 1930's, America suffered through the Great Depression. When World War II began on September 1st, 1939, the United States refused to join the fight. However, the Attack on Pearl Harbor, commenced by the Empire of Japan on December 7th, 1941, made the U.S. Government change its mind, and the country entered the war against the Axis Powers (Nazi Germany, Japan, and Italy), and fought for freedom in Europe, North Africa, and in the Pacific. The creation and use of the atomic bombs established America's status as a superpower, and sought to ensure world order through the establishments of the United Nations and NATO . After the war ended in 1945, with the surrender of the Axis Powers, the United States entered a new arms race with one of its World War II allies, the Soviet Union, when it revealed and demonstrated its own atomic bomb in 1949. In 1950, the Korean War started, and the U.S. was part of the United Nations forces until it was over in 1953. Then, in 1961, the Cuban Missile Crisis threatened the U.S. with nuclear war. By the end of the year, it was prevented. In 1965, the U.S. entered the Vietnam War as an ally of South Vietnam, to help prevent communist takeover from North Vietnam. In 1972-75, the U.S. forces withdrew from Vietnam. In the 1980's, prior to the events of Army Wars: Red Tide, President Ronald Reagan builds up the nation's military might.

The Armed Forces earned victories in World War I and World War II, along with interventions in Korea, Vietnam , and Grenada. This military has 5 branches; the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard. And in addition to those, all 50 states have their own National Guard, reserve components of the Army and Air Force who respond to emergencies and disasters. Notably, the U.S. Armed Forces have bases and troops stationed almost everywhere around the world, including Europe, Africa, Latin America, East Asia, the Middle East, Southest Asia, and the Pacific to counter the spread of communism in these regions.
